What is that IRC thingy

With all the lameness Numbers was kind of right, IRC is a relatively primitive way of communicating between groups of tech minded folks, for example I usually lurk on #cialug (the Central Iowa Linux User’s Group) on freenode. My client of choice is IRSSI.  With IRSSI, SSH, and Screen, I can be logged in to the channel at all times and just reconnect back to my server as I feel like it.
